Gordon Lee finally captured their first state title in over 30 years when they took home the GHSA 1A championship in 2018. It was a major breakthrough for a program that has consistently been in the state title picture.

Now, they're looking to make even more history by defending their crown. The Trojans have never won consecutive state championships and will get their shot on Monday when they open up their state championship best of three series against Schley County in Savannah.

The Trojans have been hitting the better better than most as they swept every series in their state tournament run. Also, they've leaned on stellar pitching. '

Mainly from junior Jake Wright, who has an ERA under one, and sophomore Jake Poindexter, who's been the shut down guy in game two.

Gordon Lee will have their hands full with the Wildcats, a scrappy team who defeated them in 2017 for the 1A state championship. The two will play a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. on Monday, May 20th inside Grayson Stadium in Savannah, GA.
