U.S. State Department issues updated travel alerts for overseas destinations
The U.S. State Department wants Americans to be cautious this summer and aware when traveling outside the United States this summer.
There are currently 57 countries on the State Department's travel advisory list ranging from "Level 2" to "Level 4", and some are population vacation destinations.
Included in the "Level 2" category, which means "exercise increased caution," are the United Kingdom, France, Spain, and the Bahamas.
If you are planning a trip abroad be sure to check out the travel advisories on the U.S. State Department's website.
The agency says its a good idea to enroll in the "Smart Travelers" enrollment program to receive alerts. Also, review the crime and safety reports for the countries you are traveling to.
