When I was in school, a great teacher named Ed Carter (now retired) encouraged my class to memorize the US presidents, in order.  There were far fewer presidents back then, but it was still a challenge.

Recently, while reading to third graders in Kristi Honeycutt's class at Big Ridge Elementary School in Chattanooga, I told them I could say the presidents.  So I did. Then they decided they wanted to learn.  I told them I'd be back in a month, and I would give them free Papa John's pizza if they could recite the presidents from memory.  Needless to say, they met the challenge.

It's a fun project.  Try it sometime!  Now, watch these brilliant 3rd graders.
