UPDATE: The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the person whose body was found in home that was destroyed by fire in East Brainerd last week.

HCSO spokesperson Matt Lea says the victim is 37-year-old Christopher Keith Smith.

Lea says the investigation of the deadly fire is ongoing.

Lea says the driver who ran over the fire hose, Tina White, has been cited with Crossing a Fire Hose, and Reckless Endangerment.

PREVIOUS STORY: A body has been found in an East Brainerd home that was destroyed by fire on Tuesday afternoon.

The fire happened in the 700 block of Stone Crest Circle in the Hurricane Creek subdivision shortly before 2:40 p.m.

Hamilton County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Matt Lea says a burned body was found as Tri-Community Volunteer firefighters were investigating the fire.

Lea says the body has been taken to the Medical Examiner's office for identification.

The victim's name will not be released until family members are notified. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

PREVIOUS STORY: Tri-Community Volunteer firefighters battled a house fire in the East Brainerd area on Tuesday.

It was reported in the 700 block of Stone Crest Circle in the Hurricane Creek subdivision, shortly before 2:40 p.m.

Hamilton County EMS spokesperson Amy Maxwell says the fire started in the garage of the home, which was engulfed by flames when crews arrived at the scene.

Maxwell says a woman ended up driving over the fire hose and damaged the equipment, delaying the response to the fire. Maxwell says the woman will face consequences for her actions.

The home is a total loss with damage estimated at $250,000.

No one was hurt.

The homeowner will be staying with friends.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
