Georgia Department of Transportation could begin work on a bridge rehabilitation project on US 41/Dalton Bypass in Whitfield County.

Georgia DOT was recently awarded a nearly half million dollar contract with Louis Company LLC of Lees Summit, Missouri.

The contract is for a construction project to rehabilitate three bridges at various locations on the Dalton Bypass in Whitfield County.

The project will focus on replacing bridge decks and bridge joints of the following three bridges:

  • Bridge on the Dalton Bypass over Haig Mill Creek
  • Bridge on the Dalton Bypass over Norfolk Southern Railroad
  • Bridge on the Dalton Bypass over CSX Railroad.

“Transportation projects like this one continue to positively influence the lives of all citizens in Northwest Georgia,” said Grant Waldrop, district engineer at the Georgia DOT office in White.

The project is expected to last 5 months, a scheduled completion date of October 2019 and a price tag of $344,100.

GDOT will provide up-to-date information on construction and lane closure schedules on this project.
