Two rounds of storms are expected on Saturday.

The newest data indicates the first round from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm in Chattanooga. Storms will be increasing from the southwest and moving into Jackson, and Dekalb, AL, and Franklin, TN earlier by 6:00 am-8:00 am.

By afternoon and early evening, I'm seeing a dry period.

Another round will move in from 9:00 pm Saturday to 1:00 am Sunday morning.

The biggest threat with storms on Saturday will be damaging winds. Marginal large hail looks possible as well. If storm movement is slow, we will need to watch for flash flooding and higher rainfall. This means, cloud to ground lightning will also be possible. At this time, it looks like storms should be moving northeast at 15-25 mph. It looks likely that the strongest thunderstorms will produce over 1" of rain. Be prepared for Saturday, in case of power outages. Tree limbs are likely to come down, bringing debris on the roads.

Saturday is a weather alert day!
