Detectives and deputies with the Rhea County Sheriff's Office found over 50 marijuana plants while searching a home Wednesday.

The sheriff's office said they served a search warrant at a home in the 500 block of Wolf Creek Road at the home of James Purdy.

"Detectives received information that a large indoor marijuana grow was there inside the home," a sheriff's office spokesperson said.

During the search, deputies found over 50 plants in various stages of growth. They also found marijuana that had been harvested.

Purdy was arrested and booked in the Rhea County Jail. He faces charges of:

  • Manufacture/Deliver/Sell Controlled Substance (50 Marijuana Plants)
  • Manufacture/Deliver/Sell Controlled Substance - 5+ Pounds of Marijuana for Resale
  • Felony Unlawful Drug Paraphernalia Uses & Activites
