UPDATE: City council votes to rename section of Hamill Road to honor fallen CPD officer
UPDATE: City council members unanimously voted to change the name of a section of Hamill Road to honor fallen Chattanooga Officer Nicholas Galinger.
A portion of the road will be renamed “Officer Nicholas Galinger Road.”
The portion that will be renamed and receive secondary street signs runs from North Crescent Club Drive to Cassandra Smith Road.
Officer Galinger was hit and killed while checking a manhole cover on Hamill Road in February.
Councilman Chip Henderson says he is hoping to reveal the signs at the Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony on May 16.

PREVIOUS STORY: The Chattanooga City Council is expected to vote on a name change for a section of Hamill Road to honor fallen officer Nicholas Galinger.
The first reading of the resolution will be May 7.
The section to be renamed "Officer Nicholas Galinger Road" is located between North Crescent Club Drive and Cassandra Smith Road. In February 2019, Officer Galinger was hit and killed while inspecting a manhole cover.
