What the Tech? App of the Day: The RealReal
As a rule, you might never spend $600 on a pair of Alexander Wang shoes. But someone did. Now, they want to sell them. Rich and famous people all over the world are using the app "The RealReal" to consign what they may have only worn once or twice.
A pair of $600 Alexander Wang shoes are listed for $265 in "The RealReal.” Designer fashions from all the fancy brands, Gucci, Prada and Fendi are all there. Someone who could afford these designer brands cleaned out their closet (or probably had someone do it for them) and listed them items on The RealReal.
Dresses, shoes, jewelry, men's ties and suits. For sale. Some items still have the price tag, while some were worn just a few times. The RealReal has several locations and employees who make housecalls, or estate-calls, to pick up some of the items. They're authenticated, made sure they're not counterfeit, listed and eventually sold. Prices are generally 30 to 40% off the retail price.
If you have a designer brand in your closet you never use, The RealReal takes it on consignment and you get to keep as much as 80% of the sale price.
Hot items are handbags, dresses and jewelry. The listings show the items quality and condition. All of the photos were taken by experts at The RealReal.
