Behind a season-high three homeruns, the Chattanooga Mocs softball team downed in-state rival ETSU, 8-1, to clinch the three-game Southern Conference series on Sunday afternoon inside Betty Basler Field in Johnson City, Tenn.
Chattanooga improves to 31-13 overall and 9-6 in SoCon play following the win. After splitting yesterday's doubleheader and winning the series finale today, UTC captured its fourth SoCon-series win of the season. ETSU falls to 19-23-2 and 5-9 in conference play.

Chattanooga threatened in the top of the first when Emily Coltharp led things off with a single on the first pitch and swiped second on the next.
h Weissenbach advanced her to third on a groundout to second, but the Mocs failed to capitalize and ultimately stranded a pair.
UTC found offense in the top of the third and plated four runs on two hits to build a 4-0 lead. The inning was highlight by a long, three-run homerun off the bat of Amanda Beltran with two outs. (WATCH)

Beltran's round tripper followed an RBI sacrifice fly from Halie Williamson with one out that initially broke the scoreless tie.
Hudson found a little trouble in the second and third innings, but worked out of both jams unharmed. Back-to-back singles started the second before a pair of soft lineouts and a strikeout ended the frame.
Two-straight one out singles in the third put two Bucs on base, but Hudson buckled down to induce a pop out and fielder's choice to conclude the threat.
Over the fourth and fifth innings, a two-out single from ETSU's Kelly Warren was the only hit recorded from either side, as the score remained 4-0 in favor of UTC.
Chattanooga plated three runs on four hits including a pair of solo homeruns to pull away from ETSU in the top of the sixth.

Morgan Kazerooni and Katie Corum went back-to-back over the left field fence before Cameren Swafford added a two-out, RBI single up the middle to amass the 7-0 lead.
ETSU broke up Hudson's scoreless streak right at 30.0 innings in the bottom half of the inning. Tiffany Laughren laced an RBI single up the middle to bring the Bucs within six, 7-1.
Devan Brown added a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh to extend the UTC edge to 8-1 before Hudson completed her fourth-straight game with a clean final frame.
Hudson (12-8) picked up her fourth-straight complete game victory in the circle and allowed 10 hits and one earned run while striking out five. Chattanooga and ETSU both finished with 10 hits apiece during the finale.

Chattanooga hosts Samford next weekend for a three-game SoCon series at Jim Frost Stadium (May 4-5) to wrap up regular season play. The two teams will play a 7 p.m. game on Saturday before a Noon doubleheader on Sunday. All three games will be LIVE on ESPN3.
