UPDATE: Catoosa Co. business fire ruled as arson, reward offered
UPDATE: Investigators with the Georgia Safety Fire Commissioner's Office have ruled that Saturday's fire at a Catoosa County business was intentionally set.
The fire at Mashburn Tree and Stump Removal was reported shortly after 1:00pm April 27. The Catoosa County Fire Department responded to the blaze.
“The fire occurred at Mashburn Tree & Stump Removal off of Boynton Drive in Ringgold. The fire caused damage to a second building as well as a large piece of equipment,” said Safety Fire Commissioner Jim Beck. “The structure where the fire originated was not connected with utilities.”
Safety Fire Commissioner Jim Beck is asking anyone with knowledge about this fire to call the Arson Hotline at 1-800-282-5804. Rewards are offered of up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the arsonist(s). Calls are taken 24 hours a day and callers can choose to remain anonymous.
PREVIOUS STORY: Firefighters were called to a structure fire in North Georgia Saturday afternoon.
According to a Catoosa County Fire Department spokesperson, firefighters responded to a fire at a shed at Mashburn Shavings, which is at the corner of Boynton Drive and Pollard Road, around 1:15 pm.
The spokesperson said no one was hurt and that the building was not a total loss.
Ft. Oglethorpe firefighters also helped extinguish the blaze.
