A Hamilton County traffic investigator was hit by a vehicle while directing traffic for an event Saturday morning.

It happened just before 8:00 on Cherokee Boulevard. 

A Channel 3 crew was on the scene getting video of the Torch Run for the Special Olympics when they witnessed the deputy riding his HCSO motorcycle along the edge of the runners when a woman driving a vehicle hit the deputy.

According to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, the investigator was providing an escort as part of the Sheriff's Office Motor Unit when he was hit.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and witnesses said the deputy appeared to be okay.

Channel 3 has reached out to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office to find out if the deputy was hurt and if the driver of the vehicle was cited.
