Signal Mountain council votes to keep ownership of town water system
Signal Mountain council members voted to keep the town’s water system on Monday night.
Council members voted 3-2 in favor of not putting the system up for sale.
Monday’s vote came after years of discussion about the possibility of selling the water system to an existing utility.
Walden’s Ridge Utility District and Tennessee American Water submitted bids to purchase the system.
The council’s decision to keep the water system means that the town will be responsible for its upkeep and any future repairs that may be needed as well as the rates customers pay for water.
