Police: Registered sex offender arrested for being in Dunlap park
A sex offender has been arrested for being at a Dunlap park.
Tuesday night, a concerned citizen called 911 after they saw Jonathan Eric Kelly at Harris Park, a Dunlap Police Department spokesperson said.
The citizen recognized Kelly as a sex offender and told him he had to leave the park.
Police say Kelly was gone before they got to the park. Officers located him Thursday morning in the area of Hickory Street.
"Upon conclusion of the investigation and interview, it was determined that Kelly had recently been in or near the park during evening hours. Kelly is currently on lifetime supervision with the Tennessee Department of Probation and Parole," a Dunlap police spokesperson explained.
Kelly was last arrested when a Sequatchie County Sheriff's detective saw him on a school's property in January of 2018.
Dunlap police say Kelly is classified as a Violent Against Children Sex Offender.
He was arrested for violating the Tennessee Sexual Offender Registry.
Kelly is currently being held in the Sequatchie County Jail without bond.
