UPDATE: Ooltewah Ringgold Road at East Brained Road has reopened after a suspicious package was detonated.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office said the package was reported around 4:00 pm near the roadway.

Chattanooga police say the package was harmless, but employees at the Circle K gas station and nearby businesses were evacuated.

One Circle K employee said he heard the loud boom when the package was detonated.

"We just started shutting the store down and we went over the Food City parking lot until we heard a loud boom, and we heard police say well it's about over now," Caleb Roberson said.

The road has since reopened, and everyone has returned to their businesses.
