A homeless man has been arrested after he stole a car, then evaded police.

The Sequatchie County Sheriff's Office and Dunlap police attempted to stop Tyler Shell after they say he stole a vehicle. 

The chase went up Smith Mountain where the vehicle Shell was driving got stuck. Shell took off on foot. 

Officers from Sequatchie County, Dunlap, and Hamilton County were all searching for Shell. 

A call from a homeowner on Blue Sewannee Road that a man, Shell, charged at them. The homeowner shot at Shell, hitting him. 

The suspect was taken into custody and brought to a nearby hospital for treatment. 

Bledsoe County Sheriff's Office processed the scene before Sequatchie County detectives took over the case.

Shell had previously been charged with drug possession, theft, and violation of probation charges. 

This was his third arrest since May 15, 2018.
