A man is facing a charge of sexual battery for allegedly inappropriately touching his Lyft driver.

Just after 3:15 Saturday morning, Chattanooga police met with the female Lyft driver at a gas station on Shallowford Road.

She told police that she picked up the suspect, Michael Clausius, just before 3:00 am, according to the affidavit.

The driver said she drove Clausius to his home on Kemp Drive. According to the affidavit, she told police that she noticed he was "very intoxicated."

Police explained that the driver told them that when they arrived at Clausius' home, he reached over from the passenger seat and inappropriately touched her and made a crude comment before getting out of the vehicle.

Officers found Clausius and spoke with him about the incident.

He told police he "leaned over and gave [her] a hug," according to the affidavit. Clausius also said the driver was being "flirtatious" during the drive and that nothing happened between them.

Clausius was taken into custody, but he has since bonded out.

He is due in court on May 8, 2019.
