Please follow forecast updates, as we are expecting severe weather on Sunday and the timing and threats may change.

For Sunday, we are expecting the potential for 2 rounds of storms. The first will be in the morning from about 6AM to noon EDT as a line moves across our area west to east. Arriving in western counties at about 6AM EDT, Chattanooga between 8-10AM, and far eastern counties around 11AM. There will be a slight break, and then more storms will develop from about 2-7PM again west to east. The timing can still fluctuate.

The entire viewing area is at risk for severe storms. All modes of severe weather are possible. The biggest threat will be damaging winds, but isolated tornadoes and hail up to a half dollar size are possible. Make your severe weather plans now, so if a warning is issued, you know where to go. Also, make sure you have multiple ways to receive weather warnings.

Once the system passes on Sunday night with a few more stray showers, calmer weather will arrive for the start of the work week. Highs on Monday will be cooler in the mid-60s with clouds decreasing, becoming mostly sunny in the afternoon. Tuesday will have highs in the mid-70s and mostly sunny. Wednesday will be partly sunny with highs in the mid to upper 70s.

Then, we will end the work week with another rain and storm system, approaching Thursday evening into Friday morning.
