UPDATE: Chattanooga's Nightfall concert series kicks off Friday in Miller Plaza.

The summer festival takes place every Friday through August 30th.

This year there will also be an art market, featuring local artists' work in Miller Park.

Nightfall organizers say the goal of this event is to bring the Chattanooga community together with a night of fun.

"Nightfall has really served as this community's gathering place for 32 years now," Carla Pritchard of Chattanooga Presents! said. This is our 32nd season, and it's always been relevant. At the very beginning. It's a reason for people to come downtown when there was nothing to enjoy downtown, and it was just trying to have people come and get a good experience."

The event is free to attend and will go on rain or shine.

Opening acts will take the stage at 7:00 pm and will be followed by the headlining act at 8:00 pm.

During the event, a portion of Cherry Street, Market Street and MLK Boulevard will be closed.
