Program to help ex-offenders find jobs taking place Thursday, Friday in Chattanooga
The City of Chattanooga wants to help people who have been in jail and are trying to turn their lives around find a job.
The city is partnering with American Job Center Tennessee to help ex-offenders prepare for the "A New Life Job Fair" that is taking place on Friday.
“Many of the men and women re-entering our communities often don’t know where or how to start looking for a job,” Troy Rogers, Public Safety Coordinator for the City of Chattanooga, said.
The program will take place over two days, beginning Thursday, April 4 with a career prep day. That day, participants will go through job preparation training where they will get help with resume building and interview skills. They will also be offered free haircuts and expungement resources.
“This event is an opportunity to provide folks with the right tools, training and confidence for a second chance at life,” Rogers added.
Anyone wanting to participate in the program must pre-register before April 4. Participants have to go through the career prep day on Thursday to participate in the job fair.
The career prep day will begin at 9:30 am and will last until 2:00 pm on Thursday, and the job fair will run from 9:00 am-1:00 pm on Friday.
