Walker County residents can expect to see smoke Wednesday.

The Conasauga Ranger District is conducting a 670 acre controlled burn. The burn will take place around 8 miles northeast of Resaca, Georgia.

"The purpose of today’s #GoodFire is to reduce hazardous fuels such as leaf litter and dead vegetation to lessen the threat of wildfire and to improve wildlife habitat conditions," a U.S. Forest Service spokesperson said.

The burn is taking place in the same area where crews had a prescribed fire on March 22. Crews are finishing missed areas and treating additional acreage, a spokesperson explained.
