It happened around 4:00 am Sunday off of Bates Pike SE.
A man was found shot to death inside a home in the area.
"I'll have to put everything together as we go to see exactly what happened when patrol first arrived, how they identified a person of interest, how they identified the witnesses, and we will go from there,” Bradley County Sheriff Steve Lawson said.
Witnesses are being interviewed by investigators.
Channel 3 spoke to several neighbors, who declined to do an interview on camera, who saw police respond to the scene.
They said this is out of the ordinary in their neighborhood.
Officers closed down Bates Pike SE for several hours as investigators went in and out of the home.
A search warrant has been issued and investigators continue to search.
Sheriff Lawson believes more evidence could be found inside the home.
"There is two ways to go. We either consent or search warrant. In some instances, we work with the DA's office, and we felt it was best to get a search warrant in this case,” Lawson said.
And if anyone has additional information about the shooting, Lawson urges them to reach out to help end the ongoing investigation.
