UPDATE: The pilot killed in a plane crash in Gordon County, Georgia, Saturday afternoon has been identified.

The Gordon County Coroner's Office said 63-year-old Richard Hogan of Douglasville, Georgia, was the man killed.

The crash happened around 3:45 pm in the area of Spenser Drive.

Only Hogan was aboard the plane when it crashed, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The FAA said the plane was an Innovator experimental, amateur-built aircraft.

The FAA is investigating the crash, and the National Transportation Safety Board will determine the cause.
