A man has been arrested and charged following a police pursuit and driving under the influence.

Hobert Deward Hickman, Jr. is facing multiple charges after he led police on both a high-speed chase and foot pursuit Tuesday morning.

The arresting officer was conducting a traffic stop when he noticed another vehicle speed pass.

The officer attempted to pursue the vehicle when he spotted Hickman's Jeep driving recklessly at approximately 25 mph over the speed limit.

Believing the driver of Jeep, Hickman, was driving under the influence, the officer attempted to pull the Jeep over.

Hickman did not stop but instead, led the officer on a high-speed chase.

As the officer pursued Hickman, Hickman drove his vehicle through a yard and ended up in a creek where he exited the vehicle and took off on foot.

A foot pursuit ensued until the officer caught up with Hickman and tased him.

Hickman told the officer he was running because he was driving under the influence and was out on parole from Kentucky.

The officer also found 22.6 grams of marijuana in Hickman's Jeep.

While Hickman does not have a bond for the DUI, he now has an $18,000 bond for the other 7 charges.

Hickman is due in court Wednesday, March 13.

Hickman is charged with the following:

  • Drugs general category for resale
