UPDATE: One person was injured in a single-vehicle crash in East Ridge early Sunday.

The crash happened around 8:00 am in the 3300 block of Ringgold Road.

Assistant Chief Stan Allen with the East Ridge Police Department said the vehicle was traveling westbound on Ringgold Road when it struck a utility pole.

The pole broke at ground level, and the vehicle flipped and landed on its top.

First responders had to extricate the driver who as taken to an area hospital for a possible head injury.

Allen said the driver's injuries are minor.

Ringgold Road was closed for several hours while EPB crews made repairs to the downed lines and damaged pole. It has since reopened. 

The crash is still under investigation.
