UPDATE: Chattanooga police have identified the person killed in a crash on Hixson Pike Wednesday night.

It happened around 7:00 p.m. in the 3800 block.

Police say 60-year-old Carolyn Manzer ran off the road in a silver Scion while traveling south and hit a telephone pole. Police say the car then went airborne and wrapped around the steal base of a billboard sign.

Manzer was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say it's unclear why Manzer ran off the road and say the crash is under investigation.

The crash shut down Hixson Pike from the 3600-3900 blocks for several hours.

No other vehicles were involved.

PREVIOUS STORY: Chattanooga police are investigating a deadly crash on Hixson Pike Wednesday night.

It happened in the 3800 block near Mauldeth Road, shortly after 7:00 p.m.

Police say the crash has closed both the north and southbound of lanes of Hixson Pike from the 3600-3900 blocks.

Police say at least one person has been killed.
