Two Signal Mountain homeowners are safe after a portion of their basement wall collapsed.

Just after 9:45 am Sunday, Signal Mountain firefighters were called to Primrose Circle.

Signal Mountain Fire Chief Eric Mitchell told Channel 3 about 20-24 feet of the basement wall collapsed due to water leaking through it, but the home is still standing.

The department was called to assist with the leaking water Saturday night, and the wall collapsed Sunday.

The Chattanooga Fire Department's Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team has been called to help stabilize the home so a contractor can make repairs.

Chief Mitchell said the homeowners will stay with family until it is safe to move back into the home.
