UPDATE: The Tennessee Department of Transportation wants drivers to be prepared for delays on I-24 westbound in Marion County Thursday this week.

Crews will be conducting blasting operations beginning around mile marker 136.2, which is near the Monteagle, Tracy City exit.

"As part of a slope stabilization and debris removal project at the site of a recent rockslide, TDOT contract crews will conduct a series of blasting operations to remove loose material from the slope adjacent to I-24 West at mile marker 136.2 in Marion County," a TDOT spokesperson explained.

Traffic will be slowed while blasting is taking place. TDOT will be using rolling roadblocks and traffic could be temporarily stopped for periods of up to 20 minutes for safety reasons.

TDOT said the blasting will take place between the hours of 9:00 am-3:00 pm CST.

The work will be rescheduled if there is bad weather.
