Chattanooga officer fired following internal affairs investigation
Chattanooga Police Officer Benjamin Dessalines was fired on Thursday, following the conclusion of an internal affairs investigation.
A police report says he kidnapped a woman in November of last year and took her to his apartment, where he demanded sexual activity.
CPD spokesperson Elisa Myzal says the department will be requesting decertification from the Tennessee Peace Officer Standards & Training (P.O.S.T) Commission for Dessalines.
The criminal investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is still active and ongoing.
Dessalines is charged with one count of sexual battery and one count of kidnapping.
He is scheduled to appear in court on February 4.
