Trailer stolen from Ooltewah church Friday morning
The Ooltewah Seventh Day Adventist Church is looking for its stolen trailer.
It was taken from the parking lot early Friday morning.
Church officials say the value of the trailer and items inside is worth more than $10,000.
The church just bought it this past summer.
"It takes a special person to steal period. But to steal from a church, that's kind of a different level there,” Pathfinder Director Aaron Brewer said.
The surveillance video shows an SUV take off with the trailer.
The church went to businesses nearby to see if their surveillance cameras caught anything.
Sure enough, one shows the trailer going behind an area Food City.
Help from the community gives Brewer hope that the church will get the trailer back.
"It's been very encouraging with how many people have cooperated with us. We've got a lot of local businesses that have been willing to share their video footage. People watching for stuff on Craigslist to see if this stuff pops up,” Brewer said.
Brewer says after all this, they can still find a silver lining.
"It's like I got to think about it. And it's all replaceable. And it's not my point to judge. I'm not happy with what they did, they'll pay for it later down the line. They took the old stuff of value. And if they needed it that bad, then more power to them. If we get it back, we can still use it. But if we have to go out and buy brand new ones, to me, that's the blessing there. Doesn't waiver my faith at all. God has everything in control,” Brewer said.
The license plate number on the trailer is U955090.
If you see the trailer or have any information about this case, please call the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office at (423) 209-7000.
