One person was killed in a crash Saturday morning in Dunlap.

Around 8:30 am, first responders were called to a single-vehicle crash on State Route 28 near Press Pickett Road.

The vehicle went off the road and struck a tree head-on.

When Sequatchie County Sheriff's deputies and Dunlap firefighters arrived, they found a woman and an infant trapped in the vehicle, a Dunlap Fire Department spokesperson explained.

The infant was buckled into a car seat in the back seat. Firefighters were able to get the child out of the vehicle. The infant was taken to an area hospital, but their condition is unknown at this time.

The driver, Fallon Taylor, 28, did not survive the crash. A Tennessee Highway Patrol spokesperson said Taylor was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck.

"While the cause of the crash is unknown at this time, we want to stress the importance of safe driving on roadways this weekend," a Dunlap Fire Department spokesperson said. "With the steady rain, many areas have just enough standing water to cause a vehicle to hydroplane."
