Wreaths Across Chattanooga announced Monday that 2018 was a record-breaking year for the organization.

The yearly event places wreaths on the gravestones at Chattanooga National Cemetery to honor those have served our country.

For 2018, the event reached almost 10,000 wreaths and approximately $100,000 in donations for wreaths.

Community participation was also up 66 percent with nearly 3,000 participants in the crowd at the event.

Now that 2019 is underway, wreaths that were placed for the holiday season need to be collected for recycling.

The collection will take place on Saturday, January 26, at 8:30 AM at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
