UPDATE: Chattanooga police say a man wanted for robbing a bank on Gunbarrel Road is in custody Monday evening.

The robbery happened on January 7 around 1:45pm at BB&T.

CPD robbery investigators and FBI agents were able to identify the suspect as 49-year-old Edward Jack Gibbs by using surveillance video and witness testimony.

Gibbs was taken into custody by Nashville police on outstanding federal probation violation warrants.

Chattanooga police say their investigation is ongoing and a robbery charge is pending.

PREVIOUS STORY: Chattanooga police are looking for a bank robbery suspect.

Monday, a man went to the BB&T Bank on Gunbarrel Road and demanded money from a teller. Police say, "[he] left on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash."

Investigators said the suspect shaved his facial hair and changed his clothes after the robbery.

The suspect is described as a white man around 5'10" tall and weighs between 160-170 pounds.

During the robbery, he wore a long-sleeve blue pullover shirt, blue camouflage pants, black baseball cap, sunglasses and white shoes.

He changed into a white short-sleeve shirt and light blue shorts after robbing the bank.

He has tattoos on his arms and chest.
