Chattanooga's first baby of 2019 welcomed by family
One family welcomed Chattanooga's first baby of the New Year early Tuesday morning.
Kristen French and Adam Barnett arrived at Erlanger Medical Center at 4:00 am on New Year's Eve.
Madelyne Rae Barnett was welcomed into the world Tuesday morning at 1:02. She is 6 pounds and 1 ounce and 18 inches long.
Mom and dad were ready for Madelyne to arrive after spending more than 20 hours in the delivery room.
"Yeah, it was a long day," French said. "Yeah, needless to say, I was starving. I needed food right after."
"It's a new experience for sure. I think it's something I'm going to have to get used to, but I can do it," Barnett said.
More than 11,000 babies will be born in the United States on New Year's Day.
