A local mom got an unexpected gift Christmas morning when she delivered her son inside a car, but not without the help of her 11-year old-daughter, Tei’Ashia.

Tiffany Sanders was watching her children open presents when she felt pain. Well along in her pregnancy, she knew something was wrong.

“I sat there in pain, trying to wait until they got done,” said Sanders.

But she couldn't wait any longer. Her uncle rushed her to the car to head to Erlanger, which was eight minutes away.

Sanders’ daughter also tagged along.

“She hopped in the back with me and she held my hand the whole way there,” Sanders said. “I don’t know what I would have done if she wasn’t back there with me.”

A few minutes later, Sanders’ water broke.

“By the time we got to the Erlanger parking lot, his head was coming out,” said Sanders.

Sanders' daughter did not leave her mom’s side.

“It was scary. She was screaming and hollering, and I did not know what to do. My mom said get the baby and I had got the baby and I held him for a little bit and he started crying,” recalled Tei’Ashia.

Baby Vanterrius Messiah was rushed into the emergency room. He was a healthy baby boy.

“It was just a crazy Christmas present,” said Sanders.

This is Sanders’ ninth child.
