Providence Ministries gives 2,000 Christmas gifts, meals
It's Christmas morning and the parking lot outside Providence Ministries in Dalton is full of cars.
Inside, families walk through a room full of toys.
"We're just proud to be able to put a little joy in these children's lives," Providence Ministries Founder and President Rev. Roy Johnson said.
Each child gets to pick out three toys.
For them, it's the only gifts they will get this year.
"But it's an opportunity to spread good cheer and good will and make somebody's day a little brighter," Johnson added.
In the kitchen, volunteers box up meals for each of the families to take home.
Johnson said his ministry was able to help out 2,000 people Tuesday from the profits of four thrift stores and help from the community.
"But then we need to donations from businesses and individuals also. It takes a village, as they say," he said.
A village, coming together to highlight the true meaning of Christmas.
