Chattanooga police say one person has been charged in a shooting off I-24 West Saturday evening.

It happened around 6:40 pm at the 4th Avenue Exit.

Police say the 30-year-old victim was riding in the same vehicle as the suspect, 26-year-old Justin Sheppard, when he was shot after they got off I-24W.

Police say the pair knew each other.

The victim was taken to a local hospital. His wound was not life-threatening.

Sheppard is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm with intent to go armed.

He is scheduled to appear in court on January 9.
