Live in the Athens area and experienced a power outage? We now know that a squirrel is to blame.

According to the Athens Utilities Board's Facebook page, a power outage around 9 o'clock Tuesday morning was caused by a squirrel interfering with repairs.

AUB workers were tending to a different line when the incident occurred.

Workers left a switch open, which is a safety feature power companies use when making repairs. This "results in an immediate outage on the circuit if there’s a fault anywhere on that circuit."

No word on the condition of the squirrel.
