UPDATE: A 9-month-old's homicide is under investigation after a Hamilton County Medical Examiner's report revealed the infant's cause of death.

According to the Hamilton County Medical Examiner Office, the cause of death was "blunt force injuries of head and suffocation." 

The report outlines multiple injuries to the head as well as bruises on the child's head, neck, and back.

CPD is continuing to investigate.

PREVIOUS: Following the Hamilton County Medical Examiner's report, the Chattanooga Police Department has ruled the death of a 9-month-old as a homicide.

The infant allegedly died while in the care of a babysitter on December 17.

CPD is continuing to investigate this case, now as a homicide.

 The woman who was watching a baby boy is sharing more about his last moments before he died.

An investigation is underway into how the 9-month-old died.

The call for help came from Stone Ridge Apartments on West 37th Street shortly before noon Sunday.

When police got there, someone was performing CPR on a 9-month-old baby boy.

The baby was taken to the hospital where he died.

On Facebook, Channel 3 spoke with the woman who said she was babysitting the boy and his brother.

She told us the boys were sleeping in another room when another family member went to check on them and found the brother's arm around the baby's neck and the baby's face in the pillow, unresponsive.

Investigators with CPD's Violent Crimes and Special Victim's Unit are working alongside Child Protective Services to figure out what happened and why.

It's the job of a medical examiner to figure out how the baby died.

While investigators work to find answers to those questions, a family grieves the life of a 9-month-old baby boy, taken too soon.

No one has been charged in the case.

Channel 3 reached out to the baby's parents and have not heard back.

Chattanooga police are investigating the events surrounding the death of a 9-month-old baby boy found Sunday.

EMS crews were dispatched for an emergency medical call on West 37th Street Sunday morning.

There, they found a baby receiving CPR. The infant was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

CPD's Violent Crimes and Special Victims Unit Investigators, along with Child Protective Services responded to the scene to conduct their preliminary investigation.

The official cause of death will be determined by the Hamilton County Medical Examiner's office.
