Protests over the arrest of Charles Toney erupted at Tuesday night's city council meeting.

At the end of the meeting, District 7 Councilman Erskine Oglesby addressed the viral video of Toney's arrest that shows a Hamilton County detective punching and kicking Toney while he was in handcuffs.

"I want everybody to know that we a council believe and feel this is unacceptable behavior," Oglesby said during the meeting.

Oglesby went on to say that the kind of behavior shown in the video will not be tolerated and applauded the Hamilton County District Attorney for notifying the Department of Justice, removing the case from local hands.

But before Oglesby could finish his statement, a crowd of protestors carrying signs in support of Toney erupted, drowning out the councilman's words.

After calling for order multiple times, the meeting was adjourned.
