Good afternoon Tennessee Valley,

We'll need to continue to watch for light rain showers through the early afternoon. The heaviest rain has ended, and we'll likely only see an additional 0.01" to 0.10" through 3-4PM today. Temperatures will top the mid-40s, meanwhile it will turn colder tonight.

Here's where things get tricky. Skies look to clear by 7PM-9PM tonight. As skies clear, temperatures will be dropping quickly overnight. There will be several hours of temperatures at or below 32 through Tuesday morning. Given the recent rains, where Chattanooga has picked up over 3" of rain just since Saturday, and those in north Georgia continue to get flood warnings, we will need to watch for icy spots early on Tuesday morning, especially where moisture is still on the roads.

Through tomorrow, flood warnings will be likely for:

  • South Chickamauga Creek near Chickamauga
  • Coahulla Creek near Keiths Mills in Dalton, GA
  • Conasauga River near Tilton, GA
  • Oostanualla River near Calhoun

Tuesday will bring more sunshine with highs in the mid-40s, and the trend looks to be dry through Thursday with clouds increasing late week. Another storm system is on the horizon from Friday through Saturday. At this time, the best chance for rainfall will be Friday, where 0.50" to 1" of rain will be possible. Colder air will be mixing in on Saturday, while most look to still get liquid a few wet snowflakes can't be ruled out. Snow accumulation is not expected at this time.

  • 3PM: Cloudy, light showers, 43
