UPDATE: Sequatchie Co. Sheriff's deputy terminated following DUI arrest
UPDATE: A deputy has been terminated from the Sequatchie County Sheriff's Department following an arrest for DUI earlier this month.
Sheriff Coy Swanger confirmed Ryan Patterson is no longer with the department.
PREVIOUS STORY: A Sequatchie County Sheriff's deputy was arrested early Saturday morning for driving under the influence.
Sheriff Coy Swanger confirmed to Channel 3 that Ryan Patterson was arrested for DUI by the Dunlap Police Department.
Dunlap police said an officer found Patterson asleep in a vehicle parked in a bank parking lot. The vehicle was still running. The officer woke Patterson up and discovered he was intoxicated. Patterson refused to take an alcohol test, so he was also charged with implied consent.
Patterson has been with the sheriff's department for several years. He was not working at the time of the arrest, Sheriff Swanger said.
He is currently on unpaid administrative leave.
