Bradley Co. inmate charged with 53 counts of aggravated arson in escape attempt
The Bradley County Sheriff's Office says an inmate attempted to escape by burning a hole in his cell window.
They say Nathan Maddux used two makeshift candles to burn the hole last Friday.
Officers found rope like items in his cell, a makeshift pillow and a metal object.
Maddux has been in jail since August on charges of violation of probation.
He faces 53 counts of aggravated arson charges because 52 inmates were inside the jail along with one deputy.
Maddux was also charged with attempted escape and vandalism over $1,000.
