Power outage planned for Wednesday in parts of Cherokee County, N.C.
Blue Ridge Mountain EMC has announced there will be a planned power outage affecting customers served by the TVA Murphy substation.
The outage will start at 1 p.m. lasting about an hour or less on Wednesday, November 28.
Areas impacted include town of Murphy, Peachtree, Andrews Road, Tanglewood, Hangingdog, Grape Creek, Unaka, Pleasant Valley and surrounding communities.
Harshaw Road and West US 64 are fed by a different substation so you will not see the outage.
The Murphy Police Department requests that you not call the emergency phone lines about traffic lights being out during this time. Officers will respond to them accordingly, and remind drivers to treat the lights that are out as a four way stop.
