A North Georgia college will be conducting an active shooter drill this week.

Georgia Northwestern Technical College is planning to hold their drill at their Catoosa County Campus on Friday.

The school said law enforcement officials and emergency responders will be participating. In addition, weapons firing blank rounds will be used.

"Although they will not hurt anyone, these weapons will produce sounds that are just as loud and abrupt as firing a live weapon," a school spokesperson said.

The community can expect to see emergency vehicles and hear sirens as they head to and from campus between the hours of 8:00 am and noon.
