A gun was found in a student's locker at Howard High School Monday morning.

Members of the Chattanooga Police Department's Gun Team went to the school to find 18-year-old Desmond McKevie who had warrants for a gun-related incident that happened over the weekend.

According to CPD, McKevie's GPS placed him inside the school.

Chattanooga police contacted Howard's school resource officer and told him about McKevie's warrants.

The SRO found McKevie and took him into custody. McKevie told the SRO that he had a gun in his backpack inside his locker.

The gun was located and turned over to police, a CPD spokesperson said.

McKevie faces charges of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, vandalism, possessing a firearm with the intent to go armed and carrying weapons on school property.
