UPDATE: The child in multi-vehicle crash in Dade County has died from her injuries. 

The crash happened around 12:30 Saturday afternoon at the Wildwood exit.

Deputies say a tow truck hauling two vehicles hit a van with a family inside. the van then hit three other cars. Dispatchers tell us the crash sent more than a half dozen people to the hospital. A 13-year-old girl from Louisiana, was taken to a Erlanger Children's Hospital where she later  died.

Deputies have not said if anyone will face charges in the case.

PREVIOUS STORY: Five vehicles were involved in a crash in Dade County Saturday, according to the Dade County Sheriff's Office.

The crash happened around noon on I-24 eastbound at the Wildwood Exit.


Deputies say a Roll-back Tow Truck, hauling two vehicles, struck a van. The van then hit three other vehicles.

CPR was performed on one female juvenile who was found unresponsive inside the van. She is currently in critical condition, the sheriff's office said.

The Georgia State Patrol Accident Reconstruction team is working the crash.

One lane on I-24 remains closed but is expected to reopen soon.
