UPDATE: Georgia State Patrol has released the names of the individuals involved in the fatal crash on I-75 Southbound Tuesday morning. 

Cody Lovingood, age 28 of Calhoun, was killed after 33-year-old Baltazar Aguilera of Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky hit Lovingood's vehicle head-on. 

GSP was dispatched to a two-vehicle crash involving a fatality on I-75 Southbound near mile marker 319 in Gordon County.

According to GSP's investigation,  Lovingood had lost control of his black 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt. 

Lovingood's vehicle spun out of control until coming to a stop in the inside lane, facing north.

Aguilera, driving a white Chevrolet Silverado 2500, was traveling in the inside lane and struck Lovingood's Chevrolet Cobalt head-on.

Following impact, both vehicles traveled into the tree line off the west side of I-75 before coming to a final stop.

Lovingood was pronounced dead at the scene.

The reason for Lovingood to initially lose control is unknown. Lovingood was not restrained at the time his vehicle was struck head-on.

Drug and/or alcohol use is not suspected in the accident. 

Aguilera sustained minor injuries.

PREVIOUS STORY: I-75 south is closed at mile marker 310 in Gordon County, GA due to an accident involving a tractor-trailer and a car. 

Gordon County dispatch says the road will be closed for an undetermined amount of time. 

Drivers will need to detour off exit 320 and get on US 41.
