A Dade County Sheriff's deputy who lost part of his leg when he was hit by a driver on the run was honored at Saturday's Mocs game.

Major Tommy Bradford served as honorary team captain for the UTC Mocs Military and Hometown Heroes appreciation football game at Finley Stadium.

The Mocs were taking on Mercer University.

Major Bradford said he appreciates the continued support.

"It's just nice to see that the community is still supporting me," Major Bradford said. "It helps with the recovery. It's nice to be with my family and out and be a part of it."

He said one "silver lining" is that all Dade County Officers now have a tourniquet kit in their vehicles in case others are ever in need of one.
