A family-friendly event in Chattanooga is helping raise money for Hamilton County schools.

The Junior League of Chattanooga hosted the first ever Touch-A-Truck event at Warner Park Saturday.

Children had the chance to explore, climb and touch more than 20 trucks of all kinds, including emergency response vehicles and other equipment.

The Junior League of Chattanooga president explained why the event was created.

"The Junior League of Chattanooga has a community initiative called A League of Learners where we're adopting teachers and opportunities for teachers, so all proceeds will go back to the Hamilton County schools."

Watson says she hopes this becomes an annual event.
